Default 45k Service - Price

My car is due a service and I was meant to go and see Rob but had to cancel due to time commitments.

I rang Honda Sprigfield Tynemouth and they said the 45k serviced would be £189. Honda Springfield Newcastle said £169 so Tynemouth matched the £169.

After thinking for sometime that those prices were sky high for an oil and filter change I gave a local performance store a ring and they quoted £85 minus the OEM oil filter which I was going to supply.

This morning, ring Honda Tynemouth to cancel and they said do you want to book it in for another date. I told them the price I had from Revolution and they said they'll do the service for £99. I manganged to knock it down to £89 everything in! I think that's a bargain!!

Hopefully this will be useful to some people who want to get the Honda stamp in their book but don't fancy paying Honda prices!

Nick.

Same here - I found some room for negotiation with my usual Honda dealership when I told them what others were charging.

Got my last service cut by £40-50 in the end and a free MOT thrown in!

Don't ask, don't get!

nice work. I just had an interim service on the beater (55 plate A3 2.0 TDI) at the local non Audi garage, MOT and set of 225/45/17's for £220.

tyres are Kumho Ecsta SPT, so nothing flashy but not budget....Conti's / bridgestones were £120+ each!

The non main dealers are doing really good deals, I expect that lot at Audi would have been nearer £500...and no doubt the MOT would have turned up some 'work'

Just booked mine in with Lookers in Liverpool for it's 5th year service. As soon as I mentioned owners club - the service chap said he would knock the 20% off and with me supplying my own oil the service comes in at £112 - can't grumble at that and I get the Honda stamp in my service book

I was sent a letter from my local hand dealer in feb this year offering a MOT and service,The service was £240,Now the good bit,at the time the car was 10 months old with 2000 miles on it,the clue was in the 09 reg number but I still had to explain why I didnt need a MOT,very confident inspiring. So I took it to ABP motorsport who serviced it to honda spec and use honda original parts so the warranty is still valid which was confirmed by Honda UK,and also had the GEO set all for £220.There is very few main dealer(Car or Bike) mechanics that I would trust with my gear.

Word of caution here, had my big service quoted for by Springfield (valve clearances etc 27,00miles?) and as I'd only done 10,000mls they were prepared to do the service without the valve clearance check to save money and stamp the book........

Make sure they put synthetic oil in the motor......

I paid the ~£180 earlier this summer at Chiswick for my 45k/60 month service [car is only on 34k].

I wish I'd know they allow for such bargaining!
I've just had the call and it's all done, passed MOT with no advisories at all.

I'm surprised they came down so much on price myself Shy bairns get nowt!

Riverside Red - I've sorted that one!

I'm now happy! 12 months MOT and a fresh service - done!
