In agree.
The box ratios are not relevant on track really.
In so much as you wont ever see top.
So the best option is to gear for a circuit where you almost hit max rpm in top.
That way you make best use of available output (240bhp).
The lower the gear ratio you can live with the better.
Obviously a car geared to top end at 100mph will get there a darned sight faster then the same car geared to 160mph.
Even given the small pause to shift gear.
Not rocket science.
