Dosen't look like there were any spacers in the box I got delivered this morning. I will check it out when I get home tonight.
My mechanic said there were the sum total of three spacers of different sizes in my fitting kits - therefore to my mind it would have been impossible to use the fittings kits provided by Ricks to fit two identical final drives even if a particular spacer fitted, this is why the mechanic custom made a spacer for my diff....although I am informed that no two diffs are the same.

PL - good luck with getting it sorted.

Looks like I'll be using Iron Head's contact when I get round to it

Its a bit of a black art AB, I have no ill feeling towards my mechanic at all, Brian/Nigel mentioned that adjust can often be required. There are 27 different spacer sizes for the S2000, ranging from 3.08mm up to 3.455mm

I'm just glad the local Honda mechanics didn't have a go - they put the stock diff oil in PJL's new diff with the Spoon "proper" LSD - luckily it was our mechanic's first question when PJL phoned him after the dealsership had phoned PJL to say they daren't drive the car due to the LSD noise

I think perhaps not because provided you don't hit the rev limiter before going for third gear, the momentum of the car as it accelerates to 59 mph is probably going to push it over 60 befure you re-engage the clutch with third gear.
Do explain how this works. You apply a force that get's up to 59, to get to 60 you need more force. Due to the gearing, this can't be done in 2nd so you need to put it into 3rd to be able to get to 60.

The momentum effect can only sustain your current speed, it can't apply more force by itself.

surely ?

Steven, I am right in thinking you ended up buying a 4.625 from Stocky? My spacer advice above is applicable to the 4.625 rather than 4.57 (or for that matter, the 4.44 and 4.77)

You are right I have the 4.625.

What gear did PJL go for?

Same (I bought them both, got them cryogenically treated etc), hence the reason I'm guessing its the spacer which is the difference between his silent diff and my "noisy" (its only noticable with the roof up) diff.
