After getting the gears installed - Are you guys installing the diffs yourselves?
How will you know if the gears have been set up correctly without actually installing the diff and going for a drive?

I'm fitting my diff with my much more mechanically skilled Dad. I've just phoned the local mechanic who is fitting the final drive into my spare diff - ansaphone says he's away (presumably on holiday) until Tuesday next week.
AB - the 4.77 looks a bit too high a ratio? Have you seen your top speeds in each gear?

4.625 final drive installed in the diff Here's a warning - my mechanic had to fanny about with the diff because the spacers supplied (three alternatives) weren't big enough - he would have preferred to have started with the biggest spacer you can buy (3.455mm - part number 41387-PCZ-003) and ground down a few thousandths of an inch if required - ihis is precisely the approach he is taking with PJL's diff over the next few days.

If you think how the acceleration feels in 3rd compared to 4th with standard gearing, then post change 4th feels more like the old third - happy to scream.

statement verified today Taking it easy as only 120 miles on the new final gear (and there's a slight noise akin to a rubbing brake pad which I can hear if I switch off the stereo - hopefully this should reduce as the gear wears in) but I dropped down to 4th (rather than 3rd) when coming out of a 50 mph limit on the motorway - pulled like third
