History is important but doesnt guarantee whats what, only way you truly know is look for tell tale signs (synchros, smoke, sparkplugs, running order, wear and tear on specific parts as its harder to hide everything if you know what to look for rather then just focussing on the paperwork and being ignorant to all else).
Off course having a fhsh is a USP but when i look for a car i make sure i check everything and if its satisfactory then take a chance with the car! Also being serviced at Honda (dont rate them from past experiences) rather then specialists/yourself in my eyes is not something to wobble the deal. Of course being a Honda you can have even more confidence in the engineering reliability.

I'm surprised. I though you lot would be more on the side of 'one owner is better' etc. I suppose what you have said makes complete sense though.
I guess with any sports car purchase, it's all about condition and the paperwork that can back up a healthy life.
Well, I'm going to see an nice example (I hope) on Sunday, maybe another on Saturday. Really looking forward to it. I'm going to try not to get over excited and thoroughly check the car(s) over.

Im actually inclined to shy away from owners club cars.
The reason being the amount of "how do I do this simple task - oh no its broken" questions on here!
Some silly bint who has kerbed a couple of alloys but hasn't buggered about with ECUs and the servicing gets my money every time.

^ Indeed...mine is one owner from new, FSH, serviced on calendar due to low miles. That said, while it is only on its second set of (S02) tyres after 38800 miles it has one kerbed alloy and the engine bay has never been cleaned; one female owner! I guess you can't have everything...
There was an '8000 miles from new' S2000 on Pistonheads for a grand more (and probably still for sale, I only purchased this week) but I was suspicious of that one because the drivers seat bolster has collapsed.
8000 miles and a collapsed bolster does not tie up in my mind. Ok mine has done nearly 40000 so still lowish miles for a 6 year old but it has its own issues, some things do need sorting which are a consequence of the car only being used occasionally and sat in the garage (with it's roof down!!) most of its life to-date.
It sounds and drives EXACTLY like the 2002 I had three years ago, which is the important bit to me; I know it is a genuine car!

There's now also this thing about a dealership having to register itself as an owner if it has the car over a certain period of time. My car has had only 2 previous owners, but the dealership I bought it from had to register as an owner, so it shows 3 on the log book. So you might find the car has actually only had 2 real owners along the line, don't know how you'd ever find this out though?
By the way if your after an S at a very good price see here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=605175
Excuse the plug

Just relax when you buy a car i mean most people that look for history and throw tantrums then dont even drive the car at the limit and park it outside as a showpeice , a car is an investment but its also a machine designed to thrill. I couldnt car less if the car didnt have full stamped history or significant number of owners this doesnt mean im careless but havnt tuned and built Hondas i know what to look for. VTEC engines are amazingly reliable but they need some TLC, i prefer to look for an owner who is technically minded and yeh fiddles with the car but checks oil levels every week changes oil at 3000 miles knows about bushes and what not (i suppose they could be more inclined/knowledgable to hide faults but then again i know what to look for), etc rather then some ignorant puff who only looks under the bonnet when its time to service the damn thing.Best people are retired people to buy from not being ageist but most of them own hondas and never ever even take them above 3000 rpm!
Now if your over 60 and fed up of the s2000 blowing your wig off with the roof down or rearranging your dentures in the corners .......give me a call!

Condition of the car, FSH, all the bills/receipts are more important that just the number of owners IMO. Yeah I also agree on the comments regarding buying a standard car - far nicer to see a standard car as a buyer. But... I suppose you can never know the amount of mechanical sympathy that previous owners have bestowed on the car though... always interesting to see how the current owner drives the car from cold etc on a test drive (but you cant vouch for owners prior to that...)

Think mine had 3/4 owners before me when I bought at 5yrs old - the two before me were also members here..
I wouldn't pay too much attention, as long as the paperwork is all there and it is HPI clear I would just check things like the tyres, if they are different or plain shite then who knows what else they have scrimped on...
BTW 2 rear RE050A's being fitted for
