[QUOTE=europa,Jul 24 2008, 01:12 PM] Yeah.. I did have my eye on it. I love Red.. IMHO the best colour when in top nick but it looks like Silverstone is the way I'm going.

I was tempted by yours, but (and I hope this doesn't upset anyone), I have noticed that the earlier S2Ks are seriously suffering in the current dead car market. I've been keeping an eye on a few cars through Piston Heads, and I've seen them go from

the increased value of Chris's car would have been the fact that he is a long term owner and member of this forum therefore likely to know how to look after it properly and yes drive it properly too no doubt.

Or maybe not.....!!

(Sorry - I couldn't help myself )

If you want to see how cheap they can be bought, see 911virgin's stock. I nearly had a heart attack when I found the S2000 they have received as a trade in. Admittedly it is ladyboy blue

Why would it matter mines has 7 former owners and why should i worry about something i wil never know (ie how its been used) the car was checked thoroughly and was acceptable to me. I think history cannot guarantee what the product will be like. Its a machine a machine dont need a life story but if the owner has bothered to keep the history intact then you can assume they were careful. (Its only an assumption)

you are right it shouldn't make a difference. I do wonder why people don't want to hang on to the car when i see a lot of owners though

I was thinking about this; 1 lady owner, matching numbers; does it matter.

I think I'm the 'Lude's 4th or 5th owner and it's a very straight car.

If you get the feel that the car is straight (I once bought Karen a 127 that was supposed to be yellow but was green from tree sap and looked a right FPOS and was the best couple of hundred I EVER spent on a car!) and the car sort of tells you it's straight, then the answer's buy it.

A lot of sports cars will be bought by the 'I'll try one of those next' brigade and are sold on because they want something different. Actually, I bought the 'Lude on that basis but I cannot part with it!

Don't worry about the number of owners. Mines a 2004 model and I'm the 4th owner but the car had only done 15,800 miles when I bought it and it was obviously a couple of peoples' weekend car as its in mint condition. The last owner only had it for about 6 months too and decided he didn't like it so bought a WRX...what a loser! haha!

Get a Honda dealer to check for recalls or updates still open for that car.
They need a VIN for that.
(not sure if they will check if you're not the owner)
Oil jet bolts and sparkplugs are IMO most important for MY00-03 models.
Half a year ago the dealer suddenly (well.. they used the wrong license# to check, in NL they check it by license plate # through the importer) found out the sparkplug recall and seat belt thingy recall weren't done on my car so they gave me 4 new sparkplugs and 2 plastic thingy's for the seatbelts.

Other that that: written service history, parts used, etc, etc.

A well maintained Honda is
