Default 3yr HUK Extended Warranty for £499-00

Although my newly acquired 10K mile 06/06 GT came with 1 yr's HUK warranty (bought from Mansfield Honda), I opted to purchase another 3 years on top of that (taking warranty up to 4 years) from my local Marshall Honda dealer at Scarborough. Car has to be less than 8 years old when warranty taken out and then fully covered for up to purchase price of car for each and every claim for the duration of the warranty. (Cars warranted that are over 8 years old when warranty taken out only covered up to maximum claim limit of £1000-00.)

For me a TOTAL no-brainer - full HUK warranty for £166-00 per year?? BTW; Mansfield Honda (part of the Vertu group of HUK dealers) wanted around £900-odd for EXACTLY the same HUK extended 3 year warranty.

I have no affiliation/association/involvement with Marshall Honda; just flagging up their VERY competitive price for the 3 yr extended HUK warranty. It just so happens that their people do seem a pretty decent and very helpful bunch also.

It would cost you that much for the full AA breakdown cover which comes with the HUK extended warranty.

That's a very good price indeed. Is that for the HN3 Warranty, which includes European roadside assistance etc? Or is it the HFU1/HF1 Warranty?

Mmmmm - just had a look at paperwork - can't see HN3, HFU1 or HF1 or the like.

At top of docs it says Plan Type 'Extended Guarantee'. Claims Limit: unlimited. Includes Honda Happiness Assist.

What I can definitely say is that the paperwork is 100% IDENTICAL (each and every page and clause) for both the 12mths warranty that came with the car from the dealer where bought AND the 3 years additional warranty I purchased on TOP of that as abovementioned. Put another way, the 3 years from Marshall is EXACTLY the same as the 12mths from the dealer that came with the car.

That really is a very good price for the 3 year extension, especially so being every year costs the dealer net £175 my only thinking is if they didn't get your business regarding buying the car then they are making an initial loss on the warranty as they will get your service business (T&C's of the warranty is YOU MUST use a Honda dealer for all servicing whilst it is under the used car warranty.

Cheers.....Tony..

Any idea if they'd do that deal to more of us? although i'm unlikely to travel that far for a service, or a contact number.

I don't see why not mate: SFAIAA, I don't HAVE to take my car back to Marshall Honda for servicing, although I obviously will do as they are my local dealer. So I dunno as to whether they'd do such a keen deal for someone from well further away who obviously isn't going to take their car for servicing there... One way to find out is to phone and ask! Call Tracy on 01723 361173 and let me know how you get on. Tell her Mike from Whitby gave Marshall Honda the big thumb-up!
