I have a little tip for you, and its how I do mine. I bought a sponge applicator with a plastic handle (from an online detailing website). I guess the application feeling is a bit like applying shoe polish to your shoes with a shoe brush.
I gently spray/dribble some of the 303 onto the sponge and the plastic grip allows easy, straight strokes for application. They you just methodically work round the roof. It also means you can work right up to the edge of the roof easily and accurately.
