Default 2009 S2000 Radio

Hi There

Just bought one of the last s2000 in June 2009. Based on the Wirral

Had a Mazda Mx5 previously and whilst no comparison performance wise am missing the bose Stereo! Any suggestions onhow to upgrade standard fit stereo so its ipod compatible and also still able to use the audio controls to right of steering wheel?
Thanks

Have a look at this section of the FAQ first:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry5798525

It really depends which head unit you're getting as to which leads you need. Mine are by Autoleads - you buy two bits and marry them up - a car specfic bit and a head unit specific cable.

This is what I bought and where I got it from, plus the Sony element (PC99-SON) on top:
http://www.lowcostcaraudio.co.uk/lcca/4148...tor/pid/7352203

I have a Sony head, but also a sony 6 disk changer in the boot and iPod adaptor, so I've got rather a lot going on next to the spare wheel!

My only word of warning (assuming you're doing it yourself) is that space behind the head unit is at a premium, so keep your wires tidy! The dash control to Sony adaptor is quite a meaty piece of kit and plugs into the head unit, meaning a tight squeeze! Assume most of them are similar.

I've had a few Sony units and have liked them all, but I don't think Sony have much respect in the ICE world generally, including on here.

Also, one thing that swung me into buying the model I did, was the bluetooth phone option in the unit. The S2000 isn't the quietest of cars and anything much above 30 and the person on the other end of the phone can't really tell what you're on about, so don't let this function swing you one way or the other over a head unit.

Cheers,

Neil

and welcome.

First things are first.
Update your country to wherever you live.

Check out the highly detailed FAQ thread. It will answer almost all your immediate questions, and then some you have years from now.

A number of solutions to Ipod connectivity.
Alpine seems to be the solution of choice.

Check out threads using the search facility on MODIFRY, ALPINE, IPOD etc

Everything you could want to know on ICE is in there.

Nice colour combo BTW!

OEM stereo is indeed poo and god knows how many years old.

When I had my last S, I thought had a great setup:

- Alpine HU with Ipod integration
- Modifry adapter
- Small 2 channel Genesis amp
- Genesis speakers
- Small Alpine active sub under the passenger seat (worked really well)

Neil, have you found that the Autolead jobby only lets you scan through the radio stations rather than the presets when using the Ch button on a Sony HU? I wasn't able to screw the brackets on from the OEM unit due to the screw threads so gave up
To be honest, I've not tried that as I rarely use the radio except for Key 103 breakfast, so haven't tried it - I do know that if I'm on CD or iPod, the [CH] button gives me the next track, so there's a fair chance! I had heard of people having issues with the Autoleads cables, but I've had them in for at least a year and no issues at all.

I think I used some very short, similar thickness self tappers to screw the brackets onto the Sony and put the Honda screws back into the Honda unit, which now sits in the box the Sony came in, awaiting possible re-fitting, should I ever sell the car and decide to keep the Sony for my next car! No idea where I got those screws from though, as I had them in my old Sony in my old S2000, so we're talking about 7 years ago since I first used them!
