20-30bhp increase
Hi Guys.
Im considering mildly tuning my car to get an increase of at least 20bhp+.I dont want to go down the road of forced induction or racing ecu and other electronic gadgets because besides the price they are far to compicated for the ordinary person to grasp an understanding of .So what recommedations do yee have?
Exhaust,intake mod combination?
Throttle bodies,possibly?
Any others?
Maybe some of yee can share what mods yee have added and what performance gain you got?
Cheers in advance

That's yer answer, engine is tuned pretty highly already and it's ECU isn't programmable so an exhaust + manifold and an AEM V2 might get you 3 or 4 hps the only thing I can think might give you some gains would be a piggyback like a unichip but I doubt you'll see much more than 10hp outta that.
At a guess you're looking at the sharp end of 5-6k to get 20bhp without going FI. In other words, forget the ponies and work on other mods.

I think 20BHP+ is doable on an early car but you need a tune to get it.
Personally I think a decat (berktechnology.com) is the best bang for your buck and a K&N filter with a snorkel copy. Probly cost about

Is it very rude to try and highjack this thread?
I have a V2 intake and a decat pipe at the moment & eventually hope to get a full exhaust system
but where to go from there?
In anyones opinion are there any other mods to consider before (and to make most of) a 're-maped' ecu? what gains?
i've been through forum topics but failed to gain any clarity and have totaly missed any real debate (Am i blind?)...
Any chance?...............

Spoon head gasket to take the compression up to 12.2:1 then a piggy back ecu together with AEM V2 and single exhaust with decat should net at least 20hp.
Also, every 11lbs of weight is equivalent to 1hp so a cheap way to start is to ditch the spare and tool box for 35lbs and a decent single exhaust another 30-35lbs...

What is your goal, to be 20hp quicker in a straight line or overall on a "lap"? Hard part is, after gaining your 20hp, you would want 20 more. By which time you would need FI if not willing to "race tune" for twice as much as FI.
