Surely Honda will be able to tell me the year the engine was made from the Engine code?

Thanks for clearing that up Aquila, as long as the ECU is ok i'm really not fussed as the engine runs perfect either way!

F20C2 is Europe I think. Which means your F20C will be a Japanese engine.

Mine is F20C2-1031018. The breaker told me it was a 2004, but I've always had my doubts, as it doesn't have the newer style rocker cover for one.

F20C2 will be the build spec of the engine. For example in an EP3 UKDM car it has a K20A2, wheras the JDM version is a K20A. The difference is more aggressive cams, different inlet and exhaust manifold for the extra power in the JDM one.

I'd be likely to bet if someone with a JDM S2K looks at their engine code it will simply be an F20C rather than an F20C2 as the JDM one has more power.

It is indeed. My original one (as it says on the plate) was F20C-1001071.

Just popped out for a check on my '99 Japanese Import.
F20C confirmed.

Thanks for all the info guys, Mine is an Import and still has a JDM engine then, so the engine was swapped whilst the car was still over there, thanks guys!

Looks like the third number is the year. I found Bokkie's old engine failure thread, and that listed a 2007 with the number 7, a 2008 with the number 8, and a 2009 with the number 9. And gbduo's is a 2002 with a 2.

So mine is a 2003, and presumably Nicklincs' engine is too.
