So he had little experience of the new set up and crashed, easier to blame the car than the driver.

Were they new tyres?
How many miles experience before he crashed?
How many miles experience of the previous set up?
How many miles wear had the previous tyres had compared to the new?
What geo set up had the new wheels and tyres come from to?

A bad workman always blames his tools.

I have to disagree with that Ian. Lee was getting his service done at the same time as me and he was telling me how suddenly the rear let go. IIRC, he has booked the car in to get the geo sorted but then that God awful crash happened.
It always seems sudden when it happens.

It's always a joy to see how smug people are when they haven't had a crash . I agree there were things not right with the car it had had a major mod done that was not set up correctly. If I was a knowledgable driver as obviously there are so many of on this forum, then I would probably not have driven it I hold my hands up in disbelief as to how casual people can be about hacking such a finely tuned car, I got bitten and I do not want others to have the same happen to anyone else; slapping on braces, dropping the suspension and whaking on a set of 18' is asking for trouble, bad craftmen or not!

Okay as I mentioned before 18's do not bounce up, they bounce off of kerbs, Geometery is VITAL and finally the stock shocks do not have enough give for 18's because of the stiffer walls on these tyres.

Urm no Ian, the car does give you clues, these wheels did not, I had the perfect set up for drifting just I wasn't really knowledgable on how to control this.

When I first got the Imola I was not happy about its handling, I did start a thread on this and the conclusion seemed to be check the geo, that was fine. The problem was eventually resolved by replacing the fronts which had 3.5mm left, that gives you an idea about how sensative this car is.
