Default 18" Wheels

In advance of finding my S2000 I have been lusting over the BBS LM thread in the gallery. What alterations, if any, would need to be made to the car to accommodate 18" BBS LM's, and what width wheels and type of tyre would be best?

Cheers,
Dave.

Most S2000 drivers on 18" wheels find it useful to tarmac every road within 50 miles of their house to a mirror finish. Either that or buy a really plump cushion. Every pebble will feel like a landmine. Just going over a speed bump will take 9 hours else your spine will shatter.

On a serious note, lots of people have them, especially the yanks. Think you can get away without modifying if you choose correctly. Try using the search function - plenty of info on here.

Do remember yank road surface is 'slightly' better than here... so I wouldn't just copy what they do over there ...

Hmm, sounds like it's probably not such a good idea here in the UK. Shame as I think those 18" LM's look the business.

I must be one of the few as I have plonked 18's on my S2 and the ride comfort is hardly noticeably different. I did only have the 16s on for a week or 2 but I dont find the ride comfort any problem at all. I was expecting much worse!

Go for it!

The old phrase...

17's for go
18's for show.

That is true, but I've read alot of peoples comment saying that they like 18's

So it's upto you and how you intend to use the car - DD or trackday hero etc

Dredd123 Im with you. I've loved these wheels since, dare I say... My VW days. I can't say I've ever really seen a car I disslike with these wheels on. Stunning wheels. Only problem I've had with putting them on the S is like most have said, the practicality. For them to look right the vehicle has to be slammed.
Good luck though. If you go ahead with it make sure you get pics up.

I looked a LM's many moons ago
I've had too many sets of alloys on the S, including 3 sets of 18" ones, two of which were "super light"
It took a while but I eventually realised "super light" 17" was the way to go to improve the car. I have more grip and less unsprung weight now.
The 18" were OK but nothing like these.
Biggest issue is getting the correct fitment.

18's look too big IMO unless you have a big bodykit, the S is smaller than it appears.
