is this just for a chip? i do beleive its very possible

I have a unichip (similar to the superchip) and i got 10kw at the wheels extra. got the dyno to prve it. and i can feel a difference specially at low revs, 10% improvement in consumption

You can map a car on the road with a wideband O2 sensor. Systems like Innovate allow you to connect a wideband O2 sensor to the exhaust and run a wire into the cabin to a laptop. This gives you a real time reading of the AFR and you can map the car as you drive the car along the road. Rolling road will only take you so far but most tuners of any note will take the car out onto the road to 'clean up' the map after. This is to make up for any differences in the air temps/air velocity entering the air intake during 'fan on' on the rolling road and actual driving conditions.

That must be some map to give you 18bhp. I'd be quite wary about it.

You can yes, and I have had mine done in this way but I get the feeling they dont here from the description - but I am assuming. There is too little info there which makes me wary!

My scoob was mapped with several knock sensors feeding into det headphones, and already had a wideband.

A lot of the top mappers are reverting to just doing RR runs, but you're right, most do a finish off map on the road.

I got 18bhp on the Unichip but going to get this verified elsewhere.

Im still unsure as to how they are going to map it through the ODB port as that would require ability to break into the fuelling code part of the ECU. AFAIK the only current way is to use a chip or a VAFC which just alters signalling.
