16" Alloy wheel polish - winter wheels

I managed to provoke a bit of a slide today coming out of my usual garage. It wasn't any less predictable and if anything it was less dramatic than on the 17s.
I have been out testing the ABS in the wet and deliberately going through puddles etc and am happy to report it all feels just fine. It's not as good in the 'warm' dry as I found out chasing a Cayman last night. There just isn't the 'onlimit' grip or handling you'd get from summer tyres but that's not really the point.
In all honesty if you don't take your S2000 out in the winter months then these are probably a waste of time and money but for those of us who have no choice or prefer to drive the S2000 they seem a sensible investment.

As long as you remember they're not F1 spec cold / wet weather tyres I don't think you will go far wrong. Designed to be driven safely on, not thrashed to the limits of adhesion - or at least that's how they feel to me.

I guess just concerned that some will see them as being the next best thing to winter road glue and expect miracles from them - I'd hate for someone to come a cropper thinking like that so it's something I'm keen to emphasize.

Aye, fair play.
Way I see it is that the winter tyres should aid in grip but they are no replacement for treating the car with the utmost respect at all times during the winter!
They are like a driver aid, great to have it, but shouldn't rely on it to get you out of trouble!

I've satisfied myself at least that they're ok for normal speeds which is all I will do between now and the return of spring. Having not driven the car on 16s before and without having the skills of some of the longer term members, I wanted to make sure I knew what would happen when the car is pushed.
Admittedly that's my kind of pushed which is probably carpark speeds to some

I know, this is my first RWD car and having learnt on low powered FWD cars that can pull you out trouble, I feel like I have jumped in at the deep end somewhat!
I hope the winter tyres give me some buoyancy over the winter! Lol!

Unclefester - Any chance of another update now you have more miles on them?
Just bought some winter wheels and going for the same setup with the looks of things so be nice to hear as much as possible,
Cheers,
Philip.
