I was tempted by doing something similar (but without the polishing, obviously) as I now need (yet another) set of tyres for 17s. But I could probably get a beater for little more than the cost of second hand wheels and tyres, so I'm not sure if it really makes sense.

wheels free - tyres 300 quid then you have insurance on top of that plus any on going running costs or repairs. I just cannot afford to run two cars and being honest, i'd rather drive the S2000

Dembo - i guess the time to buy one would have been about 5 months ago .... just not the weather for it. I have the generous mr LG to thank for the wheels - i don't think he has any more although there seems to be more and more 16s being let go for nothing or next to nothing.
