A tropical 12 degrees here, top down to and from work yesterday and to work this morning - hadn't realised that MK was in the Arctic Circle!

It won't last though - I'll be putting the winters on post-airfield day.

Any change in driving style required?

Uncle OCD would be a more appropriate name. Did you put a few layers of wheel wax on them after the NXT?

There is a little more flex in the handling yes and if you provoke them above 7 degrees, they WILL spin up. Much more surefooted in the wet though.

OCD is probably right, what i've found is that the more you polish them pre winter, the longer they last without any treatment at all - i have no intention of doing much more than a quick rinse once every couple of weeks

It's the compliant ride that I love as much as anything .... would be seriously tempted to get rid of the 17s and run 16s all year round

That's it now till next year. 17s are stored indoors to be cleaned up ready for next year - something to do on a rainy day.

Looks spot on like that

I do love the stock 16's on the pre-04's but i'm thinking of upgrading to the 04 17's next year, but i've always been led to believe on here that the 17's help improve the handling on the older models (once you have the geo setup for them), but is this not really the case?

Couldn't tell you - mine's a 2004/ 54 plate car so it came with 17s .... this is the 2nd time i've used winter tyres and i've not bothered with getting the Geo adjusted for them ....... I just get it checked twice a year and leave have it adjusted if it's out of spec.

just a quick qusetion about winter tyres:

Would I be wasting my time just getting rears? Only reason I ask is that the fronts on my stock 16s have loads of tread left on the Bridgestones. Rears are shot so will need to be changed before I can swap them for my BBS wheels anyway but will the fronts be any use with the Bridgestones left on?
