16" Alloy wheel polish - winter wheels
#181
Simon - i was out most of yesterday afternoon in the peak sun - managed 20 quid of fuel in about 60 miles
Tony - this is a repolish of last years manual labour .... 400g 800g 1200g 1500g 2000g wet and dry paper on each wheel. Took off the lacquer and powdercoat right back to bare alloy then polished it up by hand haha

Using dremmel, metal polish compound and then finally NXT by hand - just over an hour from scabby to shiny. Off to do the last one now whilst i'm enjoying being covered in alloy dust.

Got to the last wheel and typically there were areas of the old powdercoat left so no choice but to flat it completely with wet & dry.
It's taken a couple of hours for that wheel and with the proper metal compound, no need to go any higher than 800g before using the dremmel to bring it up enough for the NXT to finish the job.

And finally four finished winter wheels, should be just in time to get them all scabby over winter again

Because as soon as a stone hits the lacquer it will start to lift away from the wheels - far easier ( and cheaper ) to just polish them up each time.

And this mornings temperature, 6 degrees - will be fitting these on Saturday. Can feel the summer tyres starting to slip and slide now.
