Hi All,

I have got a problem with my 12v power outlet, it doesn't work, it is the first time I have attempted to use it. I have had a hunt around for the appropriate fuse for it but can seem to find it, and tried every conceivable angle on the accessory

Is it an in line fuse I should be looking for? or am I barking up the wrong tree.

Thanks,
Giles

If I understand correctly the fuse is #7 in the fusebox by your right leg.
It is dead unless you have the key in and turned.

I second that - the key must be in the ignition & turned on.

In the good old days, the 12V power outlet was connected by a permanent live, so it was always on, without or without the key. These days, they are wired up through a switched live, hence the need for the key to be in the ignition & turned on.

If after checking the fuse and key in ignition & turned on, it still fails to work (assuming the accessory works in someone else's car), it could end up being a trip to the dealer !

HTH

Regards
Bharat

I had a closer look at the fuses and none are blown, but I noticed that I have a switch behind the drivers seat (the car is second hand). It is definitely not a Honda switch nor dealer option. I have checked to see if it is connected and there are a few wires coming from the back of it. I tried the power socket with the switch in both positions and the socket didn't work in either positions.

I guess the previous owner must have something hard wired, probably a radar detector (though there are mounting screw marks).

Thanks BSM139 and mikerich, I guess it will be a trip to the dealers for some head scratching and teeth drying.

If your car is an early s2000 then it would of had a seat belt mod. This req the removal of the whole of the back trims. Sometimes when refitted the socket is mistakenly left disconnected. this req removal of the trims to check. but try the simple stuff first useing a test light for lives and earths. mobile phone chargers have a point of bending the pins in the socket too.

all the best Mutts

Hi MUTTS,

My car is 2000 Vreg, so it would be likely to of had the seat belt modification. I put a multi-meter on the socket (ign on), and it is dead. I will check at the weekend to see if the socket has been accidentally disconnected.

Thanks,
Giles

It's not necessarily likely to have had the seat belt mod done; mine hadn't.

Your dealer will be able to tell you if the car has had it done though as it will have been noted on the Honda database.
