12,500 mile oil-change

My dealer said the first service was at 12,500. I presume 0 to 60 was told the same, and yet time and time again I see on here 9,000 miles mentioned, did they change the service interval with the '02.

AFAAIA the service interval is, and always has been, 9,000 miles, with a 4,500 option if you want it (or need it due to climate conditions)

ahh now I am thinking I may have got confused - I'll have to check my service book when I get home
It maybe 13,500 and I've just got it wrong. I am assuming I am doing the right thing my doing the optional oil change?
