As mentioned before try to get a letter from your empoyer (or some one willing to make out to be) confirming that a ban will lead to your dismissal - this should secure a short ban as the Magistrates are not in the business of getting people the sack.
There was a loop hole apparently that if you returned the speeding notice unsigned that the case may have to be dropped but I guess this has been plugged by now.
Of course you can always try to persuade a foreigner to make out they were driving - just make sure they have 3rd party insurance.
Next time make sure you ram the guy holding the camera, by accident of course; you'll probably get away with a just a suspended sentence.
My wife & brother-in-law both got copped doing 37 just in front/after a 40 sign on the same stretch of road on the same day - b'strds.

I think insurance companies possibly take a more lenient view these days, statistically a driver is far mor elikely to collect points or even a ban simply due to the prevelance of scameras.

S2Si who are you and your girlfriend insured with?
I ran through quotes when my speeding court appearance was pending, and came out with these as an example (no accidents, previously clean license and 3 years NCB):
0 points = c.900 quid
6 points(SP50) = c.1200-2500 quid
Ban (SP50) = 3,500 quid !!!!!!!!!!!

It makes me angry when I think about stuff like this.
How does getting flashed at 35mph in a 30 suddenly make you a bad driver? What justification can there be for hiking your premium for it? You can't seriously say that someone caught doing 5mph over the limit is in any way a worse driver than they were for the past x months without points.
