Sorry to be pedantic but is there such a thing as a 70mph limit dual carriageway? All of the ones I've been one have been NSL (which is 60mph). I've not personally come across one where there has been a ringed sign which says "70"

this is true it may be subject to any speed limit up to the national speed limit. We dont have 70mph signs for these, simply ones which state the NSL now applies... Remember, if the sign is circular with red border, its a road order, not a suggestion...
This of course, is the NSL for 4 wheel vehicles.. if you have a differnt qty of wheels, then simply multiply by/divide up the appropriate value to attain the relative NSL for that vehicle.

NSL is 60 mph (excluding motorways) unless it's a dual carriageway with central barrier, verge or physical divide between the opposing carriageways, when it's 70 mph unless signposted to the contrary. Eyes up your arse helps! 
I know the A44 quite well and I can sympathise! What is it with Wales?? Every time I venture on the other side of Offa's Dyke, (why don't we re-build it?
) speeding seems to be the only concern of the cops there!! Mr Brunstrom aside, I suppose it makes a change from checking the rabbit traps, Movement Of Swine Orders, and dealing with outbreaks of Sheep Scab.

However much we disagree with the tactics of the Welsh Police it seems to get the results they desire. Most of us avoid it to go for a fun drive. I only wish the police were this diligent about all crimes and not just speeding which is the easiest one to patrol and stop. Easy way out for them isn't it.
