Default 054 clutch

Just had a call from the stealers after waiting 3 weeks for the outcome, they have told me that the warranty company will only agree to replacing the pressure plate (as this is the only faulty item) inc all labour costs, the stealers have recommended that I replace the bearing and clutch while its in the workshop, they have quoted me around the 350 mark for the parts as labour is inc. The question is, should I or shouldn't I....?

I would, unless your contemplating selling soon.

It might be worth pricing up OEM / 3rd party parts from the US though.

A little off topic but do you have the extended warrenty? I dont and have just managed to get a new set of wheels out of them . Being a cheaky sod I thought I may write in about my clutch next. Probably dont stand a chance

I seem to remember a few other people on here who've had to have clutch changes saying it's an absolute sod to do the job. This takes time hence the dealers charge the earth (think 800~900 quid was being quoted by someone) that's probably why they recommend the change whilst someone else is footing part of the bill

There isn't any extra labour involved replacing the clutch disk while the pressure plate is being replaced. Call around for prices on the clutch disk. If you can find a disk for cheaper, simply provide it to the stealer

Get the disk changed too - will save you a packet in the long run.

Just to let anyone know that they have recognised the fault with the 054 clutch, so if anyone has the dreaded vibration while deaccelerating, go and get it sorted at your stealer.....

to johnsons beaconsfield as they have sorted my wheels, my pressure plate and given me discount on doing the whole clutch.
