Insurance companies use random number generators to come up with quotes - I'm quite convinced of that. I use Swiftcover and they've been very good on price - but I've never actually had to use them. I've heard horror stories.

What a result:- So in the end I rang Adrian Flux and the quoted me £1254 which I am totally made up with!!! (was paying Privelage £2100 with 800 excess). I did ring Chris Knott but unfortuantely I need to have a powerful car for a year before they let me be insured (my last car was a golf 2.0 tdi which they didnt consider as powerful, I dont think its powerful either after drive my new toy ).

So, thanks for the tips lads with the insurance. I owe ya!

I wouldn't go with Adrian Flux (bunch of incompetent fool's) or Chris Knott (didn't include all the required items in the original quote, giving the impression of being cheaper but when you add the things you asked for (personal accident cover) it took the quote way above i could get else where)

The way I see it is:

If your going to buy an S2K or performance motor then you do it on the condition you accept its not going to be cheap. If you don't have an S2K income don't buy one. :-) sorry if that sounds harsh, but I waited years and put up with rubbish cars until I got a good enough job to afford my first fast car a CTR.

My mate is 19 and has had a crappy T reg Punto for two years. He is looking at a Prelude or CTR, obviously getting high quotes. He has a new job now paying good money for his age. So I said if you want a Prelude or CTR you are going to have to accept high insurance, petrol, oil and tyre costs along with tax and parts.

I know so many people that buy a brand spanking new motor or something a bit pokey and have ended up selling months later as it's drain their pockets.

If your under 27/28 then higher excess is the way to go im afraid, I bump mine up on the understanding I can actually afford to pay it.

Sorry matey, I think I gave the impression that I was skint, im not, I just saw that insurance I was paying as a total rip off. e.g. would you pay a fiver for a banana? Bad example, but hey, u get the point.

Totally agree with post above.

Was quoted £970 with £3K excess from confused.com which was the best price.
Read this thread, phoned Adrian Flux now paying £1250 with a more reasonable £300 excess phew!

I'm 27 with 2 years no claims and a dirty SP30 from earlier this year driving a fiesta diesel!

Cheers folks
