Hi Cowea,
Don't waste your time, go straight to the specialist brokers:

If you have more than one car in the family they do something like theb Admiral Multicar policy.
This worked out cheaper than insuring the one modified car with a specialist, as the NCD applied to both cars/drivers.
With two major claims I can say they handled them brilliantly (call centres in Wales)
No issue with using my choice of expert bodyshop either.
Worth a look..
Funny that 'Sheilas Wheels' who advertise using a convertible wont insure the S2000 at all

I'm in a similar jam. I have a full EEC license from may 2004 and no claims on insurance back home, however that is worthless here. So is the fact that I have driven sports cars before.
So I'm getting quotes ranging from 3000 to 12000 (which is funny for a car that will likely be worth 11000). The exception is a quote from Autonet Insurance that is offering 1000 premium and a 3000 excess.
It's just ridiculous.

I would suggest you try and get someone to get you a Ride Drive experience day. Provided they rate you as a low risk driver, you get 25% off your renewal quote with Adrian Flux. Not quite sure what they do if you haven't been insured on the S before
I got an experience day voucher for Christmas and used it to reduce my premium. I was 31, no points, no ncb (yes!!! I know!!) I'd had a little accident in the S and did the course to help my confidence, but also to help with insurance. The days can be a bit expensive, but depending on how bad your insurance quotes are it's worth it. Managed to get insured for around £800. I was well pleased. The scheme also entitles you to a further 25% off your renewal price with Adrian Flux provided you've made no claims or incurred any points. You can find more information on Ride Drive on the suppliers link on this site as they are recommended by this club.
Hope that helps!

Ello,
Im a 28 yr old lad (and 6 points unfortunately) had my license for 4 years and 4 years no claims. I have a choice of £1.7k insurance premium with 500-700 compulsory excess or a £850 premium and compulsory £3000 Excess. These are the typical options from the short lists from confused.com and moneysupermarket. Alot of people say go with Adrian Flux, I will give them a ring tomorrow to see what they can offer, but I am a bit wary of them as alot of reviews online say that they can swindle u e.g. charging u money after the policy has begun stating that u must get a thatcham on blah blah.
Never had a sports car before and I never realised that there was such a thing as £3k excess!!!
What would u guys choose?
PS its an 09 plate s2k I have.
