Thetford Forest Run - aka "Norfolk Nod II"
Sunday 12th August 2012
Following on from the positive feedback from Norfolk Nod I - North Norfolk Coast run... I have volunteered to organize another...
Thetford forest has some lovely quiet straight roads and the run from Norwich to Thetford (via some back roads) are probably the best roads in South Norfolk.
The route I have in mind is:
Start:
9:45am
Thickthorn Services
Norwich NR9 3AU
Travel Lodge on site and Premier Inn nearby.
Leave here at 10:00am
Drive to Pingoland (45 mins) for photo opportunity
Drive to Santon Downham (20 mins) IP27 0TJ for photo opportunity and comfort break
Drive for another 20 mins and ...
Stopping at:
Bury St Edmunds
Ram Meadow Car Park
IP33 1XP
£1.70 for 2 hours
Stopping for lunch and a walk around the Abbey ruins
Plan to leave here at 2:30pm
Then a 50 minute drive and
Finishing at:
Thetford Forest - High Lodge (Forestry Commission site)

£2.00 entry charge (suggest parking in Adder car park)
Go Ape requires booking (suggest you book this yourself prior to the date to avoid disapointment)
BBQ no5 booked (including surrounding area which has plenty of shade/cover).

Park closes at 19:00
Total car driving time (without stops) approx 2hrs 45mins.
Total stopping time 2hrs 30mins plus as long as you like at High Lodge

NB: We will be visiting Bury St Edmunds for lunch so I'm sure there will be a shop open to purchase some food/drink
also a chair or something else to sit on might be useful (as there will a limited amount of picnic bench space)
