Default Surrey meets - canvassing opinion

all,

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on whether we should continue with the Surrey meets in the current format?

It's been running every 2nd Tues of the month for about 10 years! The numbers have decreased a lot and we've recently lost more regulars. I am now working away from home so potentially won't be able to attend for 6 months!

Considering replacing with a something like a once every couple of months Sunday lunch/drive or any other suggestions.

If you want to continue with the monthlies that's obviously and I am happy to just post up or pass the mantel to someone else for a while

SUnday lunch meet would work for us.

But if pub meets carry on we'll try and attend when we can.

It'd certainly be good to get a few more people along. Little day trips like the xmas Brighton run might be one way?

I'm guessing most of the young folk don't really want to hang out with us oldies in the pub. They'd much rather stand around in a car park with their bonnets open (if Kim's ever popular summer meets are anything to go by).

A drive to somewhere with such a car park might be fun.

Some of us are still young at heart though

And some oldies like looking under bonnets too!

Having said that I've not made a Surrey meet since I moved 8 years ago!

Prob more like 12 years they've been going Carrie!

I think the lack of replies to this thread says a lot

We haven't replied because we have been away - but I think we could discuss it on Sunday at the bbq.

Now we have moved it will be harder to do the monthly pub meet on a regular basis. But we would be up for something else as we would miss seeing you all. A Sunday drive / lunch, would be a good idea. Maybe just the lunch in the winter months when the weather is rubbish (although rubbish weather seems to have been a thing this summer).

I actually think a drive and bbq is a good shout, Sundays are better than midweek as I always get home too late to be able to make the meet. Going forward its going to be even tougher for me to commit to anything in the week as I'm based in multiple locations now. Happy to support what you guys decide and will chat to you on Sunday x
