Firstly, why can't any 'fast' group go first, not last, in convoy?

Of course, I didn't see any of the 'moments' described, but it sounds like there were some rather narrow escapes.

Maybe the next SM could be a combination of posing and thrashing (grace and pace?) by having a day or two based around a track day, with the road speeds toned down.

Just a final thought; I wouldn't think this idea of fast, intermediate groups, etc would look too good in the aftermath and investigation of an accident

Like the idea of meeting up though, and will definitely try to make the next one.

The point was that at one end of the spectrum, there are people (or passengers) who will like to drive in a non-hurried manner, taking in the sights and enjoying a lazy open-topped drive. At the other end are people, like me, who love the "call of the open road" and, once out of 30/40/50 speed zones, like to drive their cars as quickly as conditions and skill will allow (hopefully allowing a margin for error).

Well, I hope it wasn't me !!!
Anyway, I've just had a speeding fine for 41 in a 30 which suggests I was going too fast. Wouldn't mind but for the fact that I thought I was observing 30s and 40s (which I obviously wasn't)
My last speeding offence was in 1978!
