Did you actually cut the tube? The rumoured steel reinforcement is inside the rubber itself so the only way you'd see it is if you cut the tube.

Now you've said about the reinforced steel in the rubber I can't remember for sure. I think there was some, but I've binned my old set so I can't check for you.

I thought you meant there was a seperate steel pipe inside

Stainless steel lines have a PTFE tube supported by a braided stainless steel outer. The idea being that the stainless steel outer braid prevents the inner from expanding when you press the brake pedal and thus you get more brake feel and more braking effort for the same amount of pedal pressure.

The rumour is that there are already steel reinforcing wires in the rubber brake pipes, thus negating the benefit of stainless braided hoses. I would be genuinely interested to know if this is true, hence hoping someone would be willing to take a knide to their now redundant pipes

I rang circuit supplies at the beginning of last week who are the main importer (i think) and they said they had plenty of fronts but no rears. Rears are due front end of this week so hopefully they'll be here before the weekend.
Julian at Balance Motorsport phoned (presumably) the UK importer and now looking at Monday/Tuesday next week for the rear pads... I've got 5-6mm of rear pads left - I wouldn't usually worry as I'm not hard on the pads, but Rockingham is supposedly hard on brakes.
