The whole Bookatrack site is down for some reason.

Couple of extra items to the trackday prep.

Check you've got plenty of brake pad about 4 weeks before you're due to go on the trackday. I'd say you would need at least 5mm of pad to be comfortable. If you're handy with a spanner, you can take a spare set of pads with you and change them on the day, but you don't get any chance to bed them in properly so they will wear quickly. If you check 4 weeks or so in advance, it gives you the chance to get them changed and bedded in before the trackday.

When you go out on track check to see if your right knee can touch your bundle of keys hanging from the ignition key. If it can, take the extra keys off. You'll find you knee floats around a lot under cornering, and i've managed to turn the ignition off mid corner with my knee which is somewhat scary when you suddenly loose all power and the power steering.

Personally, i go to 36psi to help stop the tyres rolling on the rim.

Make sure that you know where your tow hooks are and that you know how to fit them.

Seriously consider booking tuition. I do it at about 50% of the trackdays i go to and think its very beneficial, particularly if you're new to trackdays or that particular track.

Rich,

Do you know if Jonny is doing us a deal on the tuition for this one?

Mrs Dan (well Ms) is coming along and I wanted her to get some instruction from someone other than me

i did think it might be.

I scared my girlfriend (sorry, fiance ) years ago. She came on my first trackday and had a couple of laps behind the wheel herself. By the next one, my braking points had got somewhat late, and she tried to get out mid lap

I suspect she will spend a lot of time taking pictures instead of coming out in the car
