Recently got the S2000 (probably a mid-life crisis ;-) )
Trackday newbie, but interested to give it a go, so please put me down as interested and I'll try and confirm and get it booked before the end of the month.

Updated: Done. Booked and paid the deposit.
Look forward to meeting everyone there.

Cheers,
JG

Hi Jonathan, welcome to the world of s2000's and trackdays. You'll be hooked!

If you want any advice on preparing the car or any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. They'll be plenty of us there on the day who will offer passenger rides or come out with you if you want some guidance. Don't be afraid to ask.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the reply.

You'll be hooked!
I suspect I will be!!! Really looking forward to it.

If you want any advice on preparing the car or any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Aside from sticking in petrol and oil and pumping the tyres up I'm afraid to say I'm completely useless on the mechnical side.

My car is a bog standard road going machine that I use to commute to work everyday.

With that said if anyone has any pointers on how best to prepare then please let me know. Maybe we should start another thread rather than clutter this one?

They'll be plenty of us there on the day who will offer passenger rides or come out with you if you want some guidance. Don't be afraid to ask. [
Thanks. Really appreciate it. I've been round a track before a couple of timeswith those red letter thingys so I have some idea of bracking points and the racing line, but apart from that I'll be open to any and all suggestions!

Thanks again.
Cheers,
JG

JG,

My car is not modified in any way (other than the ICE) and all I do is:
1) Put petrol in it
2) Make sure the oil is topped off
3) Adjust tyre pressure to 34psi rather than the standard 32psi
4) Make sure there is a enough tyre tread to do the day and get home legally (5mm minimum)
5) Make sure the brake pads have sufficient usage let to do the day and get home. See what % was left at your last service (noted on the paperwork) and if it is below 40%, get them changed a month or so before the day to give them time to bed in.

Others who know more than I may disagree with my 5mm/40% figures and I'm happy to bow to their superior knowledge. Obviously, the harder you are on the brakes, the more you'll wear them out, and the same with tyres.

4mm's fine unless it's an airfield.

Remove as much crap from the car as possible. Weight is the killer.

Fill up with V-power or Tesco 99 as close to the track as possible.

Reset the odo at the start of the day. It's always amusing to work out you've averaged 11mpg.

The car copes really well with trackdays.
