S2Ki Trackday- Rockingham Sunday 1st March 2009
This will be the fourth S2ki visit to Rockingham and we've had excellent days every time we've been.
Rockingham Raceway is a very modern circuit which was purpose built in 2001 as an Oval with an additional infield circuit. The international long circuit that we use on track days uses one turn (Turn 4) on the banking to create that 'Days Of Thunder' feeling with the rest of the circuit using the infield to create a really interesting circuit with a good mix of high speed sections and lower speed corners. The facilities are great, as you would expect from a purpose built circuit, and as a spectator you can see the whole of the circuit from the grandstands or the roof of the garages.
I really like this circuit as i find it has a really good mix of corners and also plenty of run off over most of the circuit in case you over cook it, making it a circuit suitable for both beginners and the more experienced trackday drivers.
The circuit itself is based in Corby, Northants, so nice and central. Its just off the A14 and easily reached from the M1 and the M6. Click here for directions
Noise limit for the day will be 103db, making it suitable for pretty much all S2k's.
After the success of the last series of trackdays, the day will again be organised through Bookatrack who have organised a number of trackdays for S2Ki, all of which have been very safe and very enjoyable days. Bookatrack are certainly one of the best trackday companies for organisation and driving discipline on the day. The marshalling is always good, and they keep a good eye on the drivers out on track. Any dangerous or aggressive driving is dealt with quickly, as are drivers who overtake without consent into corners etc.
S2Ki has had a number of days with Bookatrack over the last 4 years we have built up a very good reputation for courteous driving and contributing to an excellent pit lane atmosphere. As such, Bookatrack have again offered us an excellent deal for Rockingham on the 1st March.
