S2000 Track and Car Control
Anyone interest in having a day or half day at Colerne with their S2000?
[QUOTE]A note from Gray Marsh previous F3 driver and S grade instructor.
The Honda S2000 bunch do seem very enthusiastic so maybe a few of them would like a fun day of high speed driving with an opportunity of some first class instruction. I have a spare slot at the track day/drifting day which is coming up next weekend at Colerne on Saturday 23rd May.
It's a flexible day where I can combine drifting & on-limit handling exercises with a normal track day.
It will be possible to share my time between two customers if more than one wishes to attend.
I appreciate it's short notice so I'm happy to reflect that with a price concession.
I normally charge

I will be there on Saturday in my R26R, won't be drifiting though, would probably be the worst drift car choice you could make.
Also I have seen no previous mention of this being a joint track/drift day and Motorsport Events don't usually mix the 2 styles at all in my experience. (Unless this is on the 'car control area'??)
That also looks pricey to me for instruction (though maybe that is the going rate for drift stuff I'm not sure). I do know the MSE guys charge

Hi MBK, Gary Marsh actually works for Motorsport Events and you are correct they don't mix drifting and track work but do allow car control at certain airfields where you can practice drifting and car control.
When Gary is not working for Motorsport Events he runs personal one-one coaching and technical advice for race drivers, track day enthusiasts etc. This coaching is very tailored to the individuals skill level and style. He also specialises in ARDS testing having been an ARDS examiner.
I can only speak from personal experience and the work Gary has done with my driving using Dataloggers to show marked improvements in my general skill level and car control, which has been significant. I have had other coaching sessions from Andy Walsh and Don Palmer etc but nothing has met the value I get from Gary. However, I am a very late starter to track days so have a lot to learn.
Yes I agree the S is probably one of the worst cars for drifting.

Another top day, and many many thanks to MBK for our pax laps.
The R26 is indeed a magical machine - other lesser vehicals are so in awe of its prescence on track, that they simply break or spin off in an effort to remove thereselves from it's trajectory
Colerne, a first visit for us and we'll certainly book a day there over summer.

I'm planning on doing a track day there on the recommendation of someone who said it's good and there is lots of run off so you can have no fear of finding the limit

Ron, Keevil is shorter and easier than Colerne, but they are a very similar format tbh.
Im still waiting to sees Karens work commitments before I can book the next.
Both those circuits are close, and both fairly near the Bath area so its a cracking drive there too.
I found the guys we palled up with at Colerne were from Plymouth, nmy hometown.
One gave me his brothers business card (rally / race prep) and I found he was an apprentice with me in Plymouth.
Small world eh?!
There are some dead nice people at these events, its a hell of a lot of fun and there is just enough of a smattering of "all the gear - no idea" goons to make it funny too.
Point in case this w/e with Astons, Fezzers and New STis who were the slowest things all day.
But, they still seemed to have a lot of fun - the bemused "Why does everything pass me?" stares are priceless.
Good events MSE, and safe.
Steve.
