What do you want in a boozer? Which hotel did you end up in?
Me and a load of my mates go to the local Wetherspoons on a Thursday for "Curry and a beer" for a fiver - you are more than welcome to pop along too. It's a shit pub, but it's cheap and it's a night out having a laugh.

I ended up in the Travelodge near Badgers pad. I'm quite annoyed by it, but there's feck all I can do about it.
Wetherspoons are ok, they do a wide range of end of date beers and they are cheap. As long as a place isn't too poncy I don't mind.

Poncy - Ha ha ha ..
Clicky ..
Well if you are in the "Quality" Hotel I live about 2 miles further out of town, so I can pick you up on route.
Could do a few evenings in if you like. Just quiet beers mind, I don't do drinking on school nights well.

The worst bar in Reading by far
Sure, it's going to be filled with cheapskates and it might be the volume business to make their money but there's plenty of plus points. The Hope Tap is not the trendiest pub in Reading by a long way and is usually packed out with people spending their pensions

"Poncy"...Weatherspoons...
No worries there.
I assume that's the Monks Retreat, Ben?
edit - crosspost.
Doh...Tap. Don't you need to smell of wee before they let you in there?

And it's got more of a seating area for food. Don't like the Monks, too small and a rubbish non smoking area. Don't like smoke when I'm eating.
Could even head out to the Barron & C. But it's a bit of a treck.

I'm aware that Wetherspoons are not poncy. Usually full of old men drinking cheap booze.
As long as a place doesn't just serve cooking bitter or cooking lager them I'm usually ok.
One night I'm probably going to head to the Old Thai House is Camberley though, the food there is great.
