After much thought and talking through the idea with several members I'd like to gauge opinion for this idea onthe board. It will take a lot of planning to make this work, but here is a rough itinerary for a huge meet next autumn. The plan is to get 100 cars together in one place at one time.

Friday: book into large hotel where everyone can stay (if such a place exists)

Saturday: Meet at a circuit. All attendees will get a chance to have about an hour on circuit. Also opportunities to compare mods with timed runs as well as driving demonstrations (eg doughnuts). Any other suggestions?

Big meal together in the evening.

Sunday: Drive. A planned coordinated drive with opportunities to see other groups of S2000s coming the other way as well as the "drive by" from SM4.

Location: Somewhere in the Midlands so people from all over the country can easily get to it.

Time: Mid September 2004?

Comments: You could easily swap Saturday and Suday around (which may suit those with hangovers better).

Sounds good Ade - there's a bit of competition with the French SM, and the Island SM though.

Right, I voted, Go For It.

I have some concerns, but my choice stands as they are minor things.

1) Other meets: SM5 (will be expensive and a lot of miles on the car) AM2 (Will be around the same time?) However, I am sure that as there will (hopefully) be plenty of people going on one or the other of these two, MM will be organised for a different weekend.

2) Cost might be an issue for some people, given the previous comment, that's a lot of S time for some folk. Luckily as I live round the midlands I can still come along and bring my designated driver !

3) The track day might scare a few people off - risk of damage to the loved one, need for additional insurance, tyres - usual stuff. But again I am sure that it would be very cool to watch a bunch of S' thrashing (sorry, driving skillfully at speed) around a circuit as a spectator.

so roll on 2004

I voted reservation, for the reasons listed above by others.

I think to get three national meets into one year is ambitious, and to try get 100 cars might be a struggle. The attendence for SM4 was a lot lower than SM3 despite the better weather. Now whilst I enjoyed SM4 more than SM3, thats not the point of MM1 is it? The point is 100 cars, and honestly, I think with France, Arran and the numerous local meets you might struggle to get to a ton.

Having said that I'll be there

Ade is talking a good couple of months post Arran Meet

I think this is a good opportunity for a Supermeet style meet, which those who Arran and SM5 are difficult to get to. So far it's the meet addicts who have responded It'd be nice to hear from those who dont often attend all the smaller meets but perhaps have done the odd Supermeet or 2 who'd like a Supermeet'esque do

Don't be put off by the name Mega, Monster, Hyper etc, thats just the Organiser type people getting excited

SM5 and the Arran Meet are a bit specialised and probably won't attract very many cars. Pete's notion of a SuperMeet was to get as many cars together as possible. I was hoping to return to this idea.

There are more S2000s around now and there are a lot of active members on the board. SMs tend to bring in even more people.

SM3 turned out over 70 cars. SM4 did not I put this down largely to distance and an August date. Hence a Midland meet and a September date away from school holidays.

I've thrown in the circuit driving in as an added attraction. It will cost but could be an optional cost. If we did the drive on the Saturday and do the circuit on the Sunday it could be even more optional with some leaving early.
