Default Matlock to Lancaster (The Megameet Run) - Friday 23rd September *

MATLOCK to LANCASTER (The Megameet Run)

For those wanting to drive through the Peak District to get to Megameet 13

Date: FRIDAY 23rd September
Start time will be about 10:30-11:00ish (depending who can/can't make this start time).
Meet at Premier Inn car park, Matlock DE4 3AZ
(Sharon and I will be staying here on the Thursday night)

Drive North through the Peak District (probably a bit of a zig zag - taking in Winnats Pass)

Suggested Lunch stop is The Stubbing Wharf, in Hebden Bridge.
Please let me know ASAP if you want to stop for lunch and I will add a booking for you.

and then onto Lancaster LA1 4GJ for the Megameet Hotel. (there is no point doing the smaller more enjoyable roads as we get closer to here as we will probably be doing them on the next day!).

Route Suggestion: https://binged.it/2bfklP9

Post up below if you are interested in joining us.

Depending what time you are thinking of setting off.
The start point is 2hrs from ours, if you are thinking of 10:30-11:00 then we will possibly join you.

Got to check with the success ballast first!

Cool.
Looking into some possible routes it shouldn't take more than 4 hours to get to Lancaster.
With a lunch break in the middle we could call this 5 hours.

So not looking to leave any earlier than 10:30-11:00.

Sounds like a good idea. Anne and I live in Nottingham, so joining you could well be possible, but can't confirm till nearer the time. And if we do, a start at 11 would be preferable. We know some of the Peak Distict, but mainly the more main roads.

2/8/16 - Steve - we can change that to a definite, rather than a definite maybe. Looking forward to an extra drive before the main event, so long as the MoT goes ok this week!!

Cool. Didn't see your update (above) until this morning.
I have promoted you to the Attendees list.

Great, we'll be in the car park by 11. I'll PM you my mobile number in case of last minute problems. No ideas for a lunch stop near Rochdale yet I'm afraid, but I'll give that more thought e.g. maybe a canalside pub if there's one nearby. The MoT was fine so apart from petrol, air and oil we should be ready to go. Probably fatal to say that!

I would skip Rochdale as it is a hellhole! (Used to have an office in Rochdale).

Depending on the route up we could stop somewhere like Hebden Bridge.

Oh - I like the sound of that. Sounds very posh!

The Stubbing Wharf looks like a nice pub with picnic benches by the canal (if the weather is nice).

What do you think?

Steve
