I would book a room now, you can always cancel at a later date if you have to!

don't forget it's a bit cheaper to pay with cash at the hotel... or said another way, last time there was some surcharge for using credit card when clearing your bill..

it's still cheap as chips though..

Well i booked mine but Frank hasn't replied saying it is confirmed. I asked him if he wants a deposit - what does he usually do?

usually no deposit needed, just settle cash on leaving

I suggest you drop Frank an email thanking him for your reservation by phone - he'll drop you back a confirmation by return (although he has been known to take a week to reply to emails)
