would be intrigued to know how crap I am at GT4..
having wasted many a night playing GrandPrix on the PC to the pro level.. (all the versions until electronic farts paid more money to bernie than GC could do)
and then playing Colin Mcrae also on the PC.. latest version is very very good..
however the PS2 arcady style rather than simulation + keypads put me off from buying..
I much prefer a good AZ<> keyboard layout.. or sidewinder steering wheel

Ben, what microphone are you planning to use with your Archos?
Also like you I am getting some interfereance with the engine running, I may have to try a better quality video cable.
After trying various microphones, including the built in one with no joy, I realised the Archos requires a line level input which meant an external power sourced mike. Rather than hack into the cars wiring I am using a small 9v battery which seems to do the trick. I'm now looking to fit two mikes to go true stereo, maybe one each side of the cockpit, or one near the engine and one for the screaming coming from the cockpit . For a simple experiment this camera malarky is getting out of hand now and knowing my luck/expertise, I just see me getting nothing of any use come the day.
Will be fun trying though

Hi Richie
My first attempt at the bumpercam used a 1.2ghz wireless camera with audio - but suffered hugely from interference, plus the engine noise drowned everything out.
My second attempt will be with a 2.4ghz wireless camera with audio (due to arrive any day now) that - according to Trumpcard - avoids the issue of interference. Whether the audio is too loud is something I'll discover this weekend when I test it.
If that doesn't work, then I will try to mount the camera in the cabin on a quick install mount or summat - or borrow Trumpcards Archos minicam attachment and hang that from the passenger sunvisor.
This had all better work, dammit! : )

Just over two weeks to go. The time is flying by now plus I have an excursion in between to make it go even quicker. I'll be going to Malaysia and flying back on the 13th (i'm getting the only flight that lands on the same day it takes off) then leaving at 5am on the 14th. So it will be red bull and adrenaline that will get me through the weekend!

Right, as the poll was pretty inconclusive about the totally green sticker, I have sent the following design off to the printers. Anyone who doesn't like it can jolly well ... um... er... not buy one and be a little smug about it.

Oh NO NOT THAT ONE
Just kidding, looks good to me, now I need to find last years ones.
On the earlier subject of crossing times, I am getting in to dunkirk around 5am on Friday 14th and intend to try to get around Brussels before the rush hour traffic clogs up the motorway. Then it will be a longish stop for a rest and breakfast somewhere, followed by a gentle plod to the Hotel arriving well before noon.
Lloyd is crossing with me but I think he motors a bit faster than me on the open roads. Anyways, if you pass an S2000 (assuming Lloyd still has it then) in company with an NSX and a TT (both purpleish), it will probably be us.

On GT4 - not sure what setting it is, I'm averaging about 8min 30sec in an S. Is that good or poo?
Tuscan on the other hand 7min 52sec
Ah - on another note, my car is currently at the dealers Needs a new clutch
Should have it back early next week
