Is this worth a visit then?
i'm thinkiny of taking my lad (5 yo) and maybe inviting the BiL/nephew along..
Opportunity to get a good look at the cars?
i could come in an s2000... possibly. Although if more of us come i'd usually use the M3

Absolutely - same racing as Silverstone Classic but half the price.
Some of the classes are small but the lack of crowds and open paddock and pits make for great access. Best take your own food though.
Last year we all four seasons of weather in one day - the snow was unexpected!

Get involved at the Donington Historic Festival!
The theme of this year’s Donington Historic Festival is ‘get involved’, with spectators invited to get behind the wheel or in the passenger seat for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Try your hand at stunt driving
Precision driving legend Paul Swift – the expert behind the Top Gear Live stunts – will be offering stunt driving lessons, teaching people how to J-turn and drift a car 360 degrees.
Learn to drift…
Learn how to drift a Caterham with BookaTrack, the UK’s leading track day provider. You’ll have enormous fun mastering the art of taking the car sideways!
… or enjoy a drift ride
If you’d rather experience drifting from the passenger seat, you can experience tyre squealing action at the hands of one of BookaTrack’s professional instructors.
Answer the rallying call
The mighty Group B rally cars – the most powerful rally cars of all time – are a huge crowd favourite at Donington Historic Festival. Now, for the first time at DHF, you can get into the passenger seat for a demonstration run and feel the power for yourself.
Or go auto solo
Go Motorsport’s auto solo passenger rides will give you a great taster of autotesting – a fantastic way to get into competitive motorsport.
Take a Dream Ride
The very generous members of the Sporting Bears Motor Club will be giving Festival visitors 10-mile passenger rides on public roads in the Donington Park area in one of their classic and sports cars in exchange for donations to a children’s charity.
Advance discounted tickets for the Donington Historic Festival start from £16 for a Friday pass, up to £48 for a three-day package that will give access to all the weekend’s racing and a massive range of attractions.
