Well, what a turnout!
Vernon and I waited for an hour but obviously the threat of rain scared off the fair weather drivers.
We still took the route and I have to say it was well chosen. An hour of dry, twisting fast A and B roads from Cambridgeshire through Suffolk and back, perfect hood down motoring. All of roads were virtually empty. It was like a private track and had I still got the S I would have put in another lap.
Seems you spend too much time talking and polishing to actually drive

As you will gather from Colly's response, it was a very select gathering i.e. just myself and Colly, and one S2k (mine).
You don't know what yo'all missed! The thunderstorms and torrential rain had passed over by 10.00am. By 11 the sun was at full strength and the roads had dried and therefore no tail sliding. Being a Sunday, no tractors on the country roads - perfect conditions for taking bends at speed and VTec'ing down the straights. The sun was so strong that when I got home I had to smother my forehead with Aloe Vera! (we have a lot of sky in East Anglia).
The lack of support was no problem because I had set up the event to be without cost and therefore with no commitment, but the excuses for non-attendance!:
'Laying a new patio'
'Having some friends over for the weekend'
'Brother in Law staying with us from Canada'
'Doing a bike ride on Sunday'
'If I can get a free pass from the Mrs, but I am sure she has lots of jobs lined up for me'
'Off to Cyprus for 2 weeks'
'Wedding anniversary, taking the wife away for the weekend'
'Swanning off around Switzerland that weekend'
'S2000 up for sale and I need to be at home for viewers (+ keep the fly count down)'
'Got family visitors and collecting my HKS [whazzat?] today'
'Accidently smashed a window on my front door and have someone coming to fix it'
'The weather forecast is saying thunderstorms so it looks like I could be giving the meet a miss too'
Pathetic!
Seriously, though, I do understand the problems of leaving hearth and home on a Sunday. It is just that Sunday is the one day of the week when roads are so much clearer (without commercial/agricultural vehicles) that the S2k can come into its own and show what it can do.
What is the general view of Forum members? Are Sundays 'bad' days for attendance? Are we having too many Mini-Meets? Should they be evening 'drinking and tall-story telling' events, or do we really want to get out on to the open road and let rip?
