Ok this might be a little odd and is rather geeky, but I thought I'd post it and see if anyone would be interested.

The Observatory Science Centre at Herstmonceux Castle, in deepest darkest East Sussex, runs an annual festival. Camping, drinking and science basically, and LOTS of photographic moments for those of you interested in.. well getting a good shot!

If anyone is interested in this please let me know and I might be able to arrange either a seperate camping area, or discounted rates in the accomodation block (the old offices when the site was owned by the Royal Greenwich Observatory) depending on how many of us there are likely to be.

Camping with everyone else will make us subject to the rules of 'NO noise after 2300 hrs' (BST) but ... if you are interested shout and I may be able to work a little magic

I would have been very interested in this - I've just finished an OU science short course - Introducing Astonomy...

However I'm off to Cornwall that weekend for a weeks holiday. but will have telescope with me to make the most of the reduced light pollution down there.

i would be up for this,but i could not be quiet after 11.

i would be pointing my 10"refracter at uranus at about midnight.

No worries guys and gals.. it is an annual affair ! If folks are genuinely interested either coming next year AND/OR a meet at Herstmonceux castle and science centre at some point in the future (I can probably arrange to have the science centre opened just for us one evening) shout and I'll arrange one

Don't be under the illusion I'm quiet after 11.. each and every year someone complains about the tent in which I just happen to be socialising in.. and I mean TALKING (with the odd drink) you filthy minded lot !
It is a large field to camp in.. just make sure you camp WAY away from everyone else !

Ok girls and boys.. a dedicated S meet at the castle or an early invite to the festival with as many trimings as I can get (castle inc, accomodation etc)...
