Re the 993 Stuart - I am beginning to worry (after driving the Z4) that the Porker would be too fast and capable for the sort of jock roads we enjoy on meets. The Honda you can push enough to have plenty fun on these roads, is the 993 not just ticking over on the same roads, so therefore not as much fun?
I have certainly found not much in the way of a difference between mine and a 996 over the twisties, when you get on a straight that is a different matter. Both are fun to drive but the S is more of a drivers car. I guess that is the reason a lot of people go for a C2 or a GT3 996.
One difference I have noticed is I get a lot more power oversteer on slow corner exits. With the S2000 the VTEC lag allowed you to be a bit less careful with how much power you were putting in as buy the time the revs rose and the high cams engaged you would have wound off more steering and be in a straight line so you only get that little wiggle as the power comes on. In the porker the power curve is so much flatter that it is all there as soon as you get your toe in. It just means you have to be a better driver and much more smooth.
Then again if it was in poor weather with your significant other driving, or kids in the car you would want 4WD.
The new 997 with active suspension might be a bit more suited to our high quality roads.

I heard the C4S was the best option for a 996... well better for a driver than the Turbo anyways.
There's a nice Yellow C4S at Glasgow Audi... it has been there for months!!

The name of this says it all... unt Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer. That's even more Deutsche than Porsche - and Austrian to boot. Which is even more German than German.
Wouldn't be seen dead in it!

I'm thinking about these for winter tyres, any one any experience of them?
Price look ok?
Safe on snow and ice, fast across the highway.
Whether smooth or with a grip: the Eagle Ultra Grip GW-3 from Goodyear brings both of the assets into only one tyre.
Thanks to the new bearing surface mixture, the unique 3D-BIS-lamellas-technology as well as the V shaped V-TRED-contact surface profile which ensures the high performance of this winter tyre, the safe stop and small braking distance.
Where the weather and traffic rules permit it, with the speed index V and H, Eagle Ultra Grip GW-3 can allow speeds up to 240 km/h - even with snow, ice or thin water covering the street, the patented 3D-BIS-System from Goodyear comes to work.
Hundreds of fine edges resulted from the deformation of the cut profile blocks, claw themselves into the ground literally.
product price for one Number. subtotal

Don't you need 245s for the rear C7BLE if you are getting anything other than the SO2s?
Andy - these are what I have on my car (although I have the 245s on the rear).
I did a fair bit of research into this, and the Goodyears were the best I could get in the UK (Blizzaks not available here). IIRC the Toyos' were not so good - I got my research from a German tyre test website - dunno what your german's like, I had to get my sister to translate over the phone.
If I still have the notes, I can post them to you.
Or better still.... try my set before you buy! They are ace in snow - otherwise, depends really.
