elistan,

Care to share your findings of the AP1/Elise comparo?

The Elise consistently pulled away from the S2000 at a decent rate. I think I got into third gear a little bit, and by that time he was 2-4 carlengths ahead perhaps.

The best I could find about 6 months ago was 2 different 04's both sebring/red/black with 30/31K miles respectively. Price was 20.5 on the one with a few scratches and 21 on the one that someone else on the board here bought.
Please stop reminding me. I still can't believe he offered it to you for 20.5K Everything else similar was listed for 26-28k. I jumped on the "deal" for 23k.

To the OP, I would save money by buying an 02-03. You are going to want what you will save in monthly payments for mods and tires- I can promise you that.

04NickySP2 - Aha! I saw that car on the net and emailed them about it on the 27th. I guess I started looking too late. Congrats on a good find. I would accept a little more miles on it for the price, but not too much more.

tcjensen - If I were not looking for the more daily driver "practicality" of the car, I would be inclined to agree with you! While there have been some good arguments on the subject on both sides, I'm still not swayed on the AP1. I like the more daily useability of the 2.2L (torque), slightly better aesthetics (IMHO), and bigger tires (the look great to me...I really like them).

On a side note, after watching all car boards - and after talking/emailing the sellers, they are really, really close to my criteria....but for around $22k after minor discussion on the subject. There can be a big spread between asking and actual selling prices. Heck, 04NickySP2 was less than $22k on his deal, showing that my criterial are very close or on the mark if you search for 'em.

I'm a bastard when it comes to negotiating plus I knew of another car nearly the exact same as yours for cheaper so I used it as leverage. 23 wasn't a terrible deal, at least I did you a favor and made him put matching kumho's on it before it was sold. He tried to sell it to me with 3 different tire brands/models on it, I told him to put some matching MX's on it and then call me back but the deal ended up not going through with me.

We have an '05 with 22K miles. Has the Front Lip, Side Strakes, Spoiler, HR Speakers. We'll be putting new tires on it, and it's certified. ----But it's Yellow.

Now that sounds nice. The new tires, body accessories, and 100k drivetrain warranty add a lot of value.

AP2's actually make more peak power as well, I looked into it and most AP1's were making 200-205 rwhp stock and AP2's were making 210-215 rwhp stock. I do prefer the higher redline of the AP1 but as far as suspension and everything else I love the AP2, especially the 06.
my 2005 made 204.5rwhp on a dynojet dyno

AP1 with 9,000 RPM sound sweet and still produced the most hp/liter in the NA world.
