Shell came out on top for power? detergent/cleanliness of the gas?

Just wondering their criteria.
I'm guessing this is the criteria, I'm looking for a little more in depth factual documentation than a popularity contest.

When I drove to California most places outside Texas (New Mexico, Arizona, parts of Cal.) were surprised to hear me asking for 93 octane...some didn't believe that is what I use here in Dallas. It was awful, I had to use 91 octane and if it was available used some octane booster plus I was in the mountains so the altitude affected it, as well.

i am from socal, and you are completely correct. 91 is the best down there. finding a station with 93 is pretty unheard of and very rare. its nice to get 93 for a little cheaper than 91

^^Yea, gas in California is like security in Iraq!! The tollway isn't any better, I just paid my fines for running the tollway in LA, each violation was $55 . Here it is $25 and only after running it several times (may be different with the introduction of zipcash)
