My idea of fishing is with dynamite so might not be a good idea!
Maybe visit some cool shops to window shopping?:

Roanoke is the unique dining capital of TX, and they have all kinds of good restaurants along a very walkable main street. I can personally recommend Babe's and Twisted Root Hamburgers, and have heard good things about Hard 8 BBQ (it's next on my list). Nearby is Texas Motor Speedway - they're having drag races, lapping, and a car show there tonight.
There's an open track day @ Eagles Canyon Raceway tomorrow, and always something going on @ Texas Motor Sport Ranch in Cresson.

I'd hope they have accommodations figured out by now, but if not the Southlake Hilton is a nice place to stay - right in the middle of Southlake Town Square w/ lots of shopping/dining, and it's a beautiful area (those rich folks spend a lot of money on landscaping!).

^Yep, I just went there last week! We ate at Copelands which is located in the hotel. Its a nice but not too pricey New Orleans style restaurant. Our food was great! Across the street is Trulucks which is more of a nicer traditional seafood place. There is also a movie theater in the same complex.

My employer put my family and I up there before I started to scout out the area for housing. We were pretty hesitant about leaving Austin, but my wife fell for the Southlake/Colleyville area (I can see Collleyville from my front yard) really quick.

Northpark Mall is "named as one of the "7 Retail Wonders of the Modern World" by Shopping Centers Today." There is a store called Pinto Ranch and its 100% western wear! Most stores are open Sunday, if not all! Best mall in DFW!
