Default viper days, Aug 13-15

Hey guys, I am going to this in Oklahoma this weekend and wanted to see if anyone else was interested in going out there...This event will be televised and anyone can race just have to register first and the hotel is offering a discounted rate. I can split a room if someone needs to do so...Here is the link: http://narraonline.com/complete_sche...ails.php?id=23

Wtf? And be surrounded by cars 3 times faster...don't think so.

I do need to attend one of these events, preferably where all the slow as balls S2k's go to and see what all this "track > straight line clutch dump racing" rant is about .

I think there is only 1 more track day at MSR this year and the beginner class is full. MSR events fill up about a month ahead of time, so fi you are serious about going to one you will need to plan for it in advance.

Actually, the Viper isn't that much faster. Check out these laptimes on Buttonwillow 13 clockwise:

08 SRT-10 ACR - 1:55.7 (Car and Driver)
Evasive S2000 - 1:56.7 (~240 hp)
Z06 - 2:01.0 (Car and Driver)
100% stock S2000 CR - 2:03.5 (Charles Ng)

And if the Viper driver isn't that fast, then the difference will just be even smaller. Smoking a car with 6 extra cylinders and that costs over 2 times more, priceless!

^ :werd:

Good tires and brakes will get that S2k down to the 2:01s I'm sure...truth is though, most drivers will not get to that limit at all.

I won't be making it to this event, but Hallett is a blast! There are some straight uphill sections where something like a viper can really abuse the power, but you don't need a ton of power to be fast there.

well the event was a blast! It didn't really get hot until 1 or so...Last day had some rain but it didn't stop those vipers from running some michelin rains! I got to go for some laps in a viper ACR, 12 out of the 25 produced were at this event, very nice cars!! I will post some pics/video when i get back from work if this site allows me to do so.

Oh there were a couple of full race miatas, an instructor was running the loudest boxster I have ever heard in my life, a corvette zr1 (looked awful with the amateur driver takin it easy, it still had paper plates), cpl z06, carrera 3, and obviously 20-30 vipers (srt-10, ACR, and competition coupes).
