Ok, yesterday MilleniumRX2 & I went to the Discount Tire at George Bush & Coit road (Since there was no wait time when I called them). I've had tires mounted & balanced in the past there for around $85-$95. However, this time when we went, the guy wanted $150. I was completely shocked. I told him I've had it done there for $85-$95 in the past (W/in 6 months ago) & I still even have the receipt to prove it. Unfortunately, he didn't care & stood by his price. Then I told him I had the s2k mounted & balance at the Tollway & Park location for around $85-$95...Again, he still wouldn't do anything.

Then, I called up the Tollway & Park location & they quoted me $86 (They would've charged only $78 if I disposed of the old tires myself). We both went there & voila...They only charged $86. When I asked the gentleman there how come they charged so much cheaper then the other location, all he could tell me was that each store can charge anything they want basically.

On a side note, almost everytime I go to the Tollway & Park location, there's always a nice car there. This time, there was a 97 & up NSX there. The last time, there was a Viper there. The time before that, there was a new 911 there. Oh yeah, I always see at least 1 suv w/dubs & blings everytime I go too . Those suckers are huge in person (& bright/shiny).

I don't know if this still holds true today, but at least at some point the management at the Park&Tollway was a supporter of the local racing scene. I don't know exactly what form that took, but that's what I was told. Haven't heard anything bad about that location. Once my wheels come in, that's where I plan on getting my race tires.

I will find out about the Discount Tire at Ohio just south of Hwy 121. Wife picked up a nail on one of the rear gForce TA's the other day (winter season tires), but the tire was ruined ...... had side wall seperation on the inside from her driving on it flat. They were nice enough to put a used loaner on till I could get a replacement shipped in.

They only got me for $146 shipped in ($5 shipping). I had paid about $133 from Tire Rack last Sept. I was surprised that before we found the tire was seperated they charged me $16 to fix flat and balance both rear wheels. First time I have delt with Discount Tire. Not that bad considering.

Each outlet is different and I have only visited a few but I can say that the management of the Tollway&Park store is outstanding compared to others I have seen. Not only do they understand race tires but they are efficient and reasonable.

The one closest to my house (Inwood & Lemmon) has some marginal employees that must be watched carefully. Half of what they have done for me must be redone to get it right.

Correct, each store has different pricing. I remember buying sets of tires for my old car. I called all the Discount Tire stores in the metroplex and they all quoted me different prices. After getting the lowest price, I then called the Discount Tire that was the closest to my location. They said that they would match the lowest price, eventhough they quoted me a much higher price...

I pass at least 3 Discount Tires to get to Todd Eaddy's Tollway@Park Discount Tire. He always takes cares of us autocross/track guys and they even have a tire conditioner to heat cycle race tires.

Yeah, I called one Discount Tire and they quoted $139.00 for the Kumho Ecstas and eventually got them from another Discount Tire for $89.00 each.

Try calling and getting them to match tirerack.com's prices- they keep the latest ads in the store and will match the price + shipping + tax.

You also might try the Bedford store and ask for the SCCA or North Texas Prelude discount; they give I think an additional 10% (or 15%?) off the tire price + free dismount, cheap mount (a few bucks) and a $4.50 balance. The manager (Brian) is usually the only one that remembers the discount.

Not sure, but I bet other stores in the area will do the discount.
