Tom, your new top and headlights are done! Looking much better.

How far is the route? Thinking about draging the Exige out...
I would love for you to come on the drive! I sent you a special route from Plano, so you can be warmed up and ready for the kind of roads you will be on

In for this one Tom! Can't wait! Trying to talk a friend or two into joining as well... See you in Sanger at 6:30!

Clovis - Total mileage for you would be around 200 miles. 250 miles max. Bring it!
Hey Joe!

Do NOT take 455 from Celina to Weston it is under construction in case you did not know!

Thanks for the heads-up. Is that entire stretch under construction, or just part? What if I came up Custer (2478) and got on 455 there to go to Celina?

I sure hope it's not the annoying type of construction where they remove the fun and straighten the road out.

Am I the only one really starting to HATE Google maps due to them not labeling almost half the roads in rural areas? It's beyond annoying.

Hey Tom,

Is there any chance we can stop near the turbines at some point to get some pics rather than trying to take them while flying along?

I second that motion. Athough since I was at the end of the pack, I did that last time but I'd rather we make a group stop.

I find it weird that sometimes in reducing image size and resaving in certain apps, you get weird things like turbine blades seeming mis-aligned. that looks weird, but I'm too lazy to fix it.

Yeah, it looks like they are just repaving sections of 455 east of Celina to Weston (the construction sign said 15miles) at a time to get rid of the wore out bumps in the road. It isn't a full repave, just the kind of annoying patchwork that they have been doing to north 373 of muenster (which is why we wont be taking it back to muenster to get a close look at the windmills) I highly doubt they straighten out the road.

I recommend going up 289 (Preston Road) instead of Custer. You will pick up all kinds of tar and loose pebbles if you take Custer. I was going to take that route when I was going to drop my car up to see David to get my top fixed, but I promptly turned around. It ruins one of my favorite sections of road for a while, but it will hopefully be better when it is complete. 455 is untouched from west of Celina onward

You can if you want to, but North 373 ahead of muenster is in the same tar-and-patch construction phase (as they have been doing for about 4 years now) the road is frequented by oil trucks and the wind turbine so it is always breaking up on the edges.
We will not be using the road like we did on the last drive in April. We will loop back through St. Jo.

IF you must get photos that is fine with me but I will not be driving my own car on the fresh road work. They were just putting on new tar on Thursday so it will still be picked up by tires. All of the roads that go close to the turbines are all gravel and if you do want some with a good background and good lighting let me know if you are willing to get your car a little dusty for a photo (bring your california car duster)
