Wow, that is pulling the trigger quickly.. most tires need that use or more before you can really tell what the performance is like, that is why I really don't trust magazines tests on 'green' tires. But I have yet to buy a Yoko tire I liked on any car so I trust you are right about the ES100's.

I have the Kumho 712's on my wife's Maxima and like them.. may have to reconsider them but in a brief test drive in an S2000 some time ago I was disappointed in their performance. I heard a rumor that they were being phased out but it seems TR has them at a good price so I may go there.

Mark, do the RS2's have too soft a sidewall? I drove a guy's Mazda with them and they felt good but not being used to the car I really could not judge.

I am open to ideas and would not mind hearing opinions on the Fuzion ZRi if anyone has tried those.
I actually went through 2 sets of ES100's and was very disappointed with them. Dont ask me why I went through 2 sets but I felt that the tires lacked dry traction and they followed the slightest cracks on the road. Felt like somthing took over my car and steered my car for me if I hit the cracks, I30 back then was a scary drive.

But theres a big diff between the Nero and the Nero M&S isn't there? Owell i wouldnt know and tirerack doesnt know everything(from there ratings though the M&S is better than the es100 by far and the Nero) right? I might just go with Eagle F1's loved them on my last car.

I had the Hankooks on my first s2k and they were very nice, I am currently running Toyo Proxes T1-S's on mine right now and I love them

I recently bought Bridgestone RE750's for street tires (245/45/16 rear and 225/50/16 front). Jim at the Tire Rack runs these on his S. They have great grip should have good tread wear. I have the Kuhmo RS-2's for Autocross.

The Bridgestones ran about $700 and are all weather tires.

In a comparison test at Mineral Wells the RS-2 felt awesome on Temming's car and less than spectacular on Ego's. I suspect it may have something to do with tire pressures and alignment. I will also say that the RS-2 had near Azenis grip on the last Miata I drove in anger.

It all depends on what you want to do with these tires. I think the RS-2's are a great value for autocross, but I don't like them for the street because of the treadwear rating of 200.

The RE750's also have a rim protector on them and they offer a little better ride for everyday driving. They have a good profile and I want that for every day driving.

Each have their own priorities. I am buying street tires but don't care much about wet traction and have never cared for higher treadwear tires that seem to me to go from mediocre to poor traction as they wear. I do care about cost as I question I get value from higher cost tires. I would continue to use my VictorRacers on the street but think the high grip and repeated stop and go (with a heavy foot) is what led to my diff failure.

Am leaning towards the RS2's but a look this morning shows I probably have six months or more before I have to take action. Plenty of time to learn from the experience of others.

You mean Hankook RS-2? Kumho=MX. My girlfriend has the 712's on her car and I've never had a great experience with them from when I had a set in 205/50/15 on my turbo civic to now. The dry grip isn't that fantastic so far.

For 17" sizes i like the kumho MX and falken st115's, I have them on my M3 right now. They're decently grippy but very quiet on road noise and lasted me 15K miles plus about a season of autocross.

Yeah! That's what I meant. My brain is fried from staying up past 1am and getting up at 6am.
