Default Tire Rack - Closing out AVS Intr for $59!

Tire Rack has the Yokohama AVS Intermediate 205/55, 225/50, and 245/45's available for ~$59. They are ZR-rated so they'll probably be OK for autocross at MW. Todd, was on them at the last event and had the second fastest time on street tires if I'm not mistaken.

I just purchased two sets of these for myself. Thanks to Todd for the heads up.

Marcucci,

Do you think the AVSs are holding up as well as the S02s? Did they handle as well at the last BMW event as they did at the S2000 event?

I'm not sure what you mean by holding up as well. I shredded the S02's to nothing in 3 autocrosses and 1 John Eagle event (the fronts at least). So far the AVS' have been to 2 or 3 autocrosses and are wearing better than the S02's. Road holding with them might be slightly less, it's hard to say. They did fine at the BMW event. I don't think for the money you will find a better tire.

Stock rims 205F and 245R. I will disagree with everyone and say that this is NOT the ideal setup and that the S02 205 does NOT run as narrow nor the 225 as wide as people say. With the 205/245 setup the car pushes a little. I have 225's and will replace the 205's with them as soon as they wear.

I would suggest 205-225 F and 225-245R. I think anything more or less on the stock rim would produce a VERY distorted contact patch (if it would even fit). I would maintain at least 10mm and probably no more than 20mm difference F/R unless you have done some suspension work and really know what you are doing.
